I am using lucid 10.04
using thunderbird(TB) 17 .... so when I run TB it dimms out the window of TB and start hanging .
I hv tried reinstalling TB 17
hv tried TB 12,13 same issue with the other versions
through Top cmnd I saw it is taking 70% memory
email profile is of around 20 GB , my other friend have almost same amount of profile but it works fine.

My PC config is core 2 duo 2.20GHz,1 GB ram,80 GB HD out which 30 GB is free.
When I start TB SYSTEM MONITOR show 889Mb use of ram out of 1 GB.
It was working fine from last 1 month ..... any solutions ...????
screenshot of system monitor is attached .......

What do you mean by "email profile of about 20GB"? Is that the size of your hidden ~/.thunderbird folder in /home which contains your emails if you use pop3; if so it is pretty huge.

I suspect a problem with corruption of your TB profile folder in some way; what happens if you rename that hidden .thunderbird folder and restart TB?

I would say your profile is huge compared to mine @ 29.5 Mb with 3 accounts. If your friend's works fine with same amount of resources used the same way the profile may be corrupt in some way.
