Upgrade halts on processing "Configuring linux-image"...

Today, I tried to download and install upgrades on my Ubuntu 12.04 system.
Everything went as usual - download went fine - and then Applying changes halts on "Configuring linux-image-3.2.0-38-generic-pae"...
Nothing happens, it just hangs there...

What should I do now?

Well, as there were no answers, I stopped the update manager process in system monitor, and after 2 reboots and another series of downloading and installing other updates, everything seems to be ok now...

Wondering what could have happened...:-k
