Dell Inspiron E1705 Laptop.
Burned following Ubuntu ISO to DVD and booted.
ubuntu-12.04.2-desktop-i386.iso
I tried the blue Fn key along with the blue key to increase brightness to no avail. I didn't try decrease brightness as in hindsight that might show if the Fn key was working to control the backlight.
It is an old laptop and backlights age but there is no problem with win xp.
I have another question about reading ext4 file system but need to get past this screen issue, if possible.
