I'm going to be purchasing a new notebook within the next 2 weeks (system76 at that!), and I'm looking for a quality case. I really don't know who makes a good laptop case, but I figure you guys will be able to provide me with a plethora of makers to choose from. :P

If it matters, I'm looking for something very lightweight. Basically a sleeve with a strap and maybe a front pocket.

Thanks for the input. :D

I think Targus is kind of the leader in that department.

I have a larger model of theirs and it has worked just fine for the past 4 years.

Targus has quite good quality cases. Although, I would get a backpack laptop carrier rather than a briefcase-type one, but it depends on your needs. For me, carrying a heavy laptop in a briefcase type carrier is impracticle for rushhour on the train on the way to campus (if you have a car it's a bit of a non-issue).

Mines a belkin, its lightweight but has enough padding to make it safe for the computer.
With the backback case you have to think about how heavy the computer is. My back starts to have problems when ever I carry too much weight on it. Which is why I got a briefcase style bag.

I would go with a light backpack.

Something like the Gerney from above looks nice.

Where I live i would not be seen dead with a normal laptop bag. You are advertising to be mugged/robbed. A backpack does not look as inviting and conceals the fact that there might be a laptop inside it.

Do you have a Costco nearby? They usually have some nice cases and they have the best return policy ever imagined.

Thanks for the input everyone.

Right now, this one seems to be my favorite.. http://www.targus.com/us/product_details.asp?sku=TSS003US

I'm still looking around though. I'm really trying to find something that I can fit a charger in, but isn't something really clunky.

I'm still not sure about backpacks, since I have a car, it's not really an issue. I just need something light that will hold some accessories.

A notebook/laptop "sock" would be nice.
