I'm a newbie in the world of computer aided design, but I am trying to design and build a battlebot and I figure this might be a project where I can get my fingers caddy.
I want something free (as in beer) - that's right, I'm a freeloader :P I was thinking of using the Windows version of SketchUp (http://www.sketchup.com/intl/en/product/gsu.html) on the Windows 7 part of my computer. But then I thought: I use Ubuntu for just about every other computer-related activity, why not use an Ubuntu-compatible "CAD" thing? I looked at the Ubuntu Software Centre (yuck!) and found 3 apps that might be applicable - LibreCAD, PyCAD and SagCAD.
So here I am, asking for suggestions as to which might be most suitable. Please bear in mind: I am a newbie to the world of Computer Aided Design, and right now the only project I am thinking about is the design of a/some battlebot(s).
Any suggestions? All are welcome. Cheers!
