The ubuntu 12.10 login screen takes me back to... er, the login screen
- if I login with the wrong passworld, it says "password incorrect"
- if I login with the correct password, it brings me back to the login screen (?)
- I can't login at the prompt after <ctrl><alt>F1 or <shift><ctrl>F1
i get something like tty1
- Also I am unable to boot from a recovery CD or get recovery mode from the boot menu
There is no obvious way of changing the boot order in the bios like there used to be, so I think this is an EFI firmware problem related to Asus X501a (brand new laptop in 2013).
Thanks to this extra "security feature" I can only login as guest.
All this happenend after I installed dropbox from the ubuntu package manager.
