I picked up a new Sony Vaio T15 (model SVT15115CXS) today at Best Buy. The hardware and design are nice and the price was good for the included features. With a bit of poking around, I was able to boot into the Ubuntu installation CD and things seemed to work pretty well. The only thing I noticed was that screen brightness controls didn't seem to work.
This is a UEFI Windows 8 laptop. Am I going to be able to get Ubuntu installed on this machine? Does anyone have insights into how this would be done? I've read that secure OS signing is causing headaches and I'm afraid to start doing any installation if it isn't going to end up working out. In addition, this has a hybrid HD+SSD device. Is there any good information on how to partition a system like this for use with dual-boot?
Any information would be most helpful. I'd like to figure out soon if I should return this laptop if it isn't going to be suitable for a Linux/Windows dual-boot installation.
Thanks,
Craig
