View Full Version : [ubuntu] Ubuntu 12.10 unity - monitor orientation can't be specified for login screen?

I have my system set up with two wide monitors, both of which I turned on their sides to get a relatively square work surface. Once I get logged in, that's what I see. (I adjusted display settings in the windows-like GUI tool.) But the login screen displays sideways, even though that's pretty clearly running in the same incarnation of X. This is beginning to irritate me.

Is there some way to get reasonable behaviour - a system-level specification of monitor attributes, that applies to all accounts, and in particular applies pre-login? (Given that this is a laptop, it should of course behave differently if it finds itself with its lid open, undocked - then it's one monitor, normally oriented.)

If so, how do I do it?

If not, where do I file the bug report (enhancement request), and against what software package in particular?

Thanks in advance for any enlightenment.
