ubuntu install

im trying to install ubuntu12.10 on a windows7 64 bit desktop , i set the bios to boot to usb (bought a ubuntu usb ) but get boot error when i try to boot to usb . when i try to mount it in windows it says reboot required but get boot error when it boots . my intenet is to get rid of windows and install ubuntu on the entire drive i dont want a dual boot i just want linux , no windows . can someone help me do this using my ubuntu usb i bought from ubuntu.com ?

What exactly does the boot error say? Have you got the right architecture for your PC?

i get a black screen white letters boot error it looks like vi did years ago then on the next line there is flashing underscore ( - )

I think that usually happens with graphics card issues. What are your hardware specifications?
