I just got a new computer which came without an operating system. Fine by me, I just installed Ubuntu.

I've been using it for a day or so, but just now started to do some serious work and have noticed that there are none of the usual fonts that are used in web design and word processing. I'm talking about Verdana for starters, but there seems to be nothing but the ones I have never used, and have no intention of using. This is important because I need to see things the way they will look after putting the stuff online.

I looked in the Software center for "fonts" and "web fonts" but there doesn't seem anything to repair the lack.

How do I install the regular fonts?

If you mean the microsoft fonts, then you would need to install the restricted-extras package.
Otherwise I am not sure what you mean.

I had not realized they were all MS fonts. I've found and installed them now. Thanks.
