in older versions of Ubuntu with Gnome 2 there was a window decoration theme that only displayed half the titlebar, just enough to display the text. Does anyone know what it was called or if there are similar ones on gnome-look?

I've browsed all morning and can't find anything similar.

One of the advantages of that theme was that the focus window had a yellow titlebar and the unfocused windows were greyed out which made it very easy to see which windo was in focus.

Nope, not a clue :)

But "Maximus" will remove the titlebar. I have it set to remove the titlebar when windows go full screen. I find that usefull on my lappy.

I downloaded ubuntu 6.06 and 8.04 to see if I could find it, but couldn't.

Then I realised it is a BeOS/Haiku lookalike theme, with yellow titlebar, but apparently, buttons on either side is hard to do in xfwm, but sevenOS has released their distro using sawfish WM which can handle that.

There is a theme called "b5" that is the closest approximation to what I want, plus this one:
