I've tried installing Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64-bit using a live USB and WUBI (my CD drive doesn't work). Both didn't work and had the same problems. In the middle of of booting up Live CD mode, or when trying to install it. It just stops in the middle of all of the text scrolling down during booting up from the USB or WUBI, and I have to reboot the computer to regain functionality. No error messages, just the scrolling wall of text stops, and I am forced to reboot. I have heard this might be a video drivers problem, I have an Nvidia GTX 550Ti and my i5 has Intel integrated graphics. Does anyone have an idea of whats going on and how to fix it? I've been going at this for hours trying different combinations of Ubuntu versions, USB's, and WUBI.

Try booting with nomodeset. See here http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1613132
