Hi everyone. I don't know if you've heard of the death of Aaron Schwartz, prominent in the rise of Reddit, creator of RSS, great hacker in the good sense, dedicating his life to an open internet... Anyway here's a detailed link:
http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2013/01/weve-lost-a-fighter-hundreds-gather-to-mourn-aaron-swartz/

There is also a memorial site here : http://www.rememberaaronsw.com/

I'm not sure if a discussion about him would be against the CoC or not but I'm posting these links anyway for those who are interested.

And to quote Artificial Intelligence's profile, "memento mori"

I don't want to get all political but I want to point something out.

HSBC and other banks are caught knowingly laundering illict funds for drug cartels, terrorits and potential enemies of the United States--> no arrests, just a fine to disincentivize such activity, the argument being that the banks are too big to seriously punish.

Aaron Schwartz illegally downloads a cache of articles allegedly with the intent to distribute them so that humanity might have access to knowledge---> even though JSTOR said they didn't really care, Schwartz faces 35 years and $1m fine.

I know. Many entities clearly do not put their money and their clout where their mouth is. Swartz was one of the ones that did...
