View Full Version : [kubuntu] Ignore slow response in browser from some sites

I use Opera and Firefox for web browsing.

This problem was actually present in 10.4 and is also present in 12.4. Some Internet sites don't response to browser or respond very late. So browser is waiting almost indefinitely. Most of time ending with message that site didn't respond in time. Which could be OK. I can live without them. Problem is that some of the sites are providing commercials for other sites. And I often see in Opera that for example 130 of 131 elements are loaded but the site doesn't display because of that 1 element.

Problem probably lies in my wifi connection which is not best quality all the time, but most sites load normally.

My question is. Is there a setting in Opera or Firefox (or any other browser) to simply ignore response from server if it doesn't answer in lets say 5 seconds?

2 extensions I use for opera that may be helpful are,
NotScripts (https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/notscripts/)

Whitelist + Same Origin (WL+SO): Scripts are blocked by default but scripts with the same origin as the current site are allowed.

Ghostery (https://addons.opera.com/en/extensions/details/ghostery/)

Ghostery™ sees the invisible web - tags, web bugs, pixels and beacons. Ghostery tracks the trackers and gives you a roll-call of the ad networks, behavioral data providers, web publishers, and other companies interested in your activity.

Stops a lot of tracking and data analysis crap from loading.
