Anyone know if there are any plans for development of an ubuntu distro based solely on gaming?
For example, a distro that would come with wine, cvscedega, a gui for mounting iso's(does such an app exist already?!), a huge library of open-source/homebrew games, emulators(but obviously not roms) and any other general stuff that is needed for gaming on linux?

Anyone have any ideas? It would really take the stress out of trying to setup a gaming environment >_>;;

ubuntu won't couse it's fully opensource. cedega isn't.
You do know that you schould own a legal copy of the cd to play moast games:P? There are several nautilus script's to do this. If you would like to see some propetary software installed by difault i'd recomend another distro. One that doesn't share's the ubuntu filosophy.

I would rather see striped (no printer or any usless services)ubuntu + freevo + lirc + some tv app + addons to make it media ubuntu.

Is new freevo out?

No, it's proprietary software. Used to be based on Wine with BSD license but wine changed to GPL. The company built on the BSD licensed code which is permitted but they got a bit snotty.

A media edition would be useless until there is some software worth using for HTPC.

A gaming edition doesn't make sense either. If you want to game from another partition/OS, just use Windows. It has the best support by far for both HTPC and gaming.

We already have Ubuntu, Edubuntu, Kubuntu, and Xubuntu. The last thing we need is a new distro for every single arrangment of software.

Install the Ubuntu that has the DE of your choice and compile the programs you need yourself.
