here is the deal. I picked up a optiplex 330 real cheap with a E7200 C2D processor and 2gigs of ram 6670 gpu. My dilemma is whether or not to say with 10.04. I initially installed 12.04 on the system only to find it to be very slow. So after some research I found 10.04 to be certified for my system. Also I found threats stating that 10.04 is better than 12.04 when it comes to working on older hardware. I guess my question is am I missing out on anything 12.04 has to offer? I know also that 10.04 support is ending soon. As the title states if i were to go to 12.04 it would have to be xubuntu as I was not impressed with the performance of ubuntu 12.04 on my system. So stay with ubuntu 10.04 or try xubuntu 12.04?

The nice thing about a fairly current install of the OS is community support. If there is an issue, it tends to get solved. 12.04 will be around for a while so any bugs still remaining or other issues should get rectified.

12.04 has newer versions of software in the repositories. 10.04 support ends in April. If Ubuntu 12.04 was slow then try either Xubuntu 12.04 or Lubuntu 12.04. I have Xubuntu 12.04 running on a older laptop (single core) than your computer.
