Asus s56ca-dh51 install problems

I am currently trying to install ubuntu on that exact laptop, but am so far completely unsuccessful, when I try to boot from a dvd or a thumb drive, the installer shows up, in black in white, and lets me choose to try it out, install it, and a couple other things, but when I select any of these choices, the screen goes grey, and nothing ever appears on the screen...

Maybe the graphics card can't read the iso?
