As far as I know, these are your options, sadly I see no Sparc CPU versions.

A more definitive link: "Supported Architecture" (http://https://help.ubuntu.com/12.04/installation-guide/powerpc/hardware-supported.html)

I'm going to go out on a limb now and say no. Unless there's a community effort I can't find? But official ubuntu support for the sparc platform has long ended. It would seem the machine is from the millennium era?

It may be worth checking out net bsd? It's no where near as easy to set up and get running but they do make it their mission to run on just about everything!

We're you hoping to use it as a desktop, or just stick to server use?

I've pretty much got that way with my old ppc machines myself now. Around Christmas last year three of them had one final install of all their systems; perfectly updated and configured.... Then packed away. Supporting such different architectures just takes a phenomenal amount of resources, and of course each year there's less machines!

I used to have Debian 6.0.x (squeeze) with a Gnome desktop running on an Ultra10 - which iirc is the same (sun4u) architecture - that may be as close as you get

[unfortunately the NVRAM has since died - I started a hardware hack for that but never got around to finishing it]
