View Full Version : i turned my password off and now i carnt update

hello i have ubuntu 12.04 lts. i turned my password off becasue i no longer needed the password but now everytime i try to update my computer i put my password in and it says it is wrong. i need to find a way to reset my password. i dont understand linux at all the only reason i have it is becasue i lost my copy of windows. please help me

I'm not sure what you mean by "I turned my password off" nor how you did it, but however you did, this may help.

thanks you. you are a genius, i carnt thank you enough for that link got all my problems sorted thanks. with the i turned my password off if u got in user accounts the password section for me said none whereas normally it got stars their to cover up the password but seriously thanks for the help

also another way , for those that do not have grub working but have an ubuntu cd follow this method:
