To begin,
I had set up a dual booted setup with bodhi linux and windows 7. (bodhi resembles ubuntu closely enough so I'm referring to these forums)

recently my windows 7 bootmgr has gone missing and I am in need of booting arecovery disk, but the disk won't boot, and GRUB boot menu is loaded immediately, even though my BIOS boot order is correctly set.

My question being how can i get around GRUB automatically booting? or show a boot cd option in the GRUB boot menu?
<if this is an inappropriate topic for this board section, I'm sorry for my unknowing>

You could try pressing F12 or F8 -- on some PCs, this brings up a boot selection menu where you can select the CD/DVD drive, USB, and other things. That's a one-time selection and can work when the default boot setting is not what you want it to be.
