I've been studying animation, and dl'd Blender v2.49.2 from Synaptic. Going to the Blender website & wiki, I learned that v2.49.2 is obsolete. The current stable version is v2.65a. The blender website advised upgrading to the current stable version. I uninstalled blender, then dl'd the .tar.bz2 file - but wasn't sure how to install it. The instructions at the blender website were quite vague; basically, skipped over exactly HOW to install what they were providing. So, I came & researched it here. I found advice that when installing from outside the normal repositories, a smart move is to inquire here whether or not it's safe for using in Ubuntu. Following that advice, I'm seeking advice. Is v2.65a safe for using in Ubuntu v10.04 LTS? (NOTE: I dl'd the variant which contains glibc211, not the other which had glibc7.)
