Hi all, good be back on Linux, hopefully a great year ahead for it.

Upon hearing of Steams support for it, I'm wanting to jump onboard again.

But...having a problem installing it.

Same burner, same disks, burnt slowly, tested on other machines and working ok.

Linux Mint 14 cinnamon installed no problems,
my old Ubuntu 9.10 live CD started up with no worries too.

However, this one, Ubuntu 12.04.1 lts 32 bit, will get to the initial purple screen with the bar = man, after that, the following occurs.

My system is as follows.
Dxdiag

Same issue occurred with Ubuntu 12.10 64bit

how did you acquire your copy of the installer? maybe it was corrupted.

you can re-check it using the torrent download, provided that the destination file is in the same location and having the same name. torrent can verify if the downloaded file is complete or still lacks some packets more.

if this is not an issue, kindly post your response.

Thanks for the advice on the torrent as when I went looking for it, I noticed

i386 and amd64 iso's. Previously I've been using the automatic download which is the i386 package.

Burnt myself the amd64 iso and can now liveCD run it (I'm typing this from it) but it still failed on the install.

Installer crashed and was unable to bug report it due to it being an 'unofficial download'. So will try and get the file again but not via torrent.

Making progress...

EDIT: Second burn has done the trick, installed and now updating. Thanks for that torrent suggestion, otherwise would probably never have seen the amd distro.
