I've never seen a keyboard with a right side super key. Most left handers map the super to the right Alt key and you can do this easily in Settings/Keyboard/Shortcuts/System.

Here the right ALT key does not work to see gnome-shell activities.

I am using a stock 64 bit 12.10 install with gnome shell (plus gnome 3 team ppa) and assigning right side alt to activities overview works for me (just tried it now). That is using a standard US keyboard. Make sure you have the correct keyboard layout assigned.

My keyboard layout is abnt2 (pt-br) and it works fine.
