Hello to everyone,

At this time I have Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 on my system. I have tested the new 12.04 and 12.10 but I dont like Unity interface or Gnome Shell, Mate and Cinnamon. Also, I dont want Xfce or openbox on my machine. I just want to keep my actual instalaltion with Gnome2 after april 2013. I know its possible but I have some doubts regarding the security. Is there any problem with this - keeping the actual kernel but with new firefox version from ppa if possible? I need Firefox and Thundebird to be updated. will this possible lets say for two years from now on? Thats all.

one day or an other, you will have to upgrade. Unity is set by default on actual version, but the gnome2 like has also been built for those wanting to stay with the classical look: Lubuntu

Fuduntu is another distro that use the Gnome2 DE and include some nice features like Netflix. http://www.fuduntu.org/index.php
