Hello.

I am currently running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on Virtual Box.

I am experiencing two issues:

1. The actual operating system is functioning very slowly, and is very unresponsive. I am having some issues with video and sound. When I try to watch a YouTube video (for example), the video does load; however, the video plays extremely slowly and is choppy. The audio doesn't seem to match the video either.

2. On some videos, voices are played in a very low register (a deep voice). Far lower then it is.

I am having this issue on both: Chromium and Firefox.

I have attached my system information to this thread.
I have also attached an image of my Virtual Box settings.

Please help.

Thank you.

Have installed ubuntu-restricted-extras package ? Is not pre-installed.

Open the Ubuntu Software Center and search for it.

Thanks

Hi NikTh,

I appreciate the response; however: I already have the ubuntu-restricted-extras.

Do my specifications look alright?

Thank you.

Maybe if you allocate more memory ? (512MB seems little) , or try the Ubuntu-2d environment. You can select it from login-screen.

Thanks

It is not Ubuntu that is operating poorly but rather your host operating system. If you are looking to try Ubuntu the way you want, wubi (Windows installer for Ubuntu Desktop) is the way to go. Here is where you can download it. http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/windows-installer Here is some help if you need it to install. http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/install-ubuntu-with-windows Good luck

Ubuntu 12.04 is great. But anytime you run something in a VM, it is going to run slower. Is your computer top notch and ready for that? I have a relatively old computer myself, but I run Ubuntu just fine on it. (Mind you, not in a VM though.) So maybe try a lighter flavor? Like Lubuntu? Something to think about.
