nouveau Failed to idle

While trying to install 12.10 I keep getting this error (repeated over and over again):

[drm] nouveau 0000:01:00.0: Failed to idle channel 2and

[drm] nouveau 0000:01:00.0: Failed to idle channel 3It is shortly followed by a very pixelated and colorful screen, then returns to displaying those 2 lines of code.

After searching the forums (to my understanding), this error has to do with the nvidia drivers? I am currently using an 8800gts. Can anyone think of a way to get ubuntu onto my system?

I just update to 13.04. It has yet to have successfully booted to a log in screen. The error is "133231 failed to idle channel 0xcccc0000" or "133231 failed to idle channel 0xcccc0001" Any thoughts?
