Hi there,

I found that I need to upgrade my bios to allow me to use hardware acceleration for virtualbox. I've got the needed files from the vendor, but I'm struggling to get this done. Can anybody help me?

I've got a clevo w150hrm laptop and need to upgrade to the latest version of the bios. I'm running kubuntu 12.04 64-bit.

If you need any other info, please let me know.

Sorry about the noob question, but I can't figure it out.

All depend of your bios settings for upgrading: i suppose you get a howto with your motherboard or pc, or at least you can read a howto directly on the net.

Thank you for your reply.

From what I understand, flashing the bios shouldn't be too hard. Very simply put, it should be something like this (I think):

* download the files EC_03 and BIOS_109
* unrar the files
* copy the files to a usb-stick
* reboot the system from the usb
* start update .bat from the ec_03 folder
* reboot the system again from the usb
* start update .bat from the bios_109 folder

sounds simple enough, I just cannot get the system to boot from the usb. I changed the boot sequence in the bios. I should somehow get the usb bootable, but fail there I think. I also wonder if .bat files will work.
