Because of LXDE Lubuntu was a good alternative for a weaker and older machines since I remember. With very last version (12.10) it's became just another regular release of Ubuntu. It can not be installed on machines without PAE feature which means it can not run on ANY older computers. Why? How about "Lubuntu has very low hardware requirements". Wrong way guyz. Best ragards.

But not out of the box which I believe should work just flawlessly. Of course you can do anything you want, install mini or even compile kernel which suits you best - but that's not the idea of i386. This smells like 686-pae so If I need to do some tricks, I choose going back to genuine Debian.
