I am trying to do a fairly minimal install. So i am not running gnome, kdey, xfce or any of the others. I have started from a CLI install of ubunut and am slowly adding things. So i am running OpenBox now.

On the mac I use Alfred all the time for my application launcher. I was curious what there is similar that is still maintained in Linux without installing a bigger desktop environment.

Was also thinking if I can't find something I like enough I might write my own, but not sure if I want to commit to that.

I know of nothing like that mac launcher, but here are a few off-the-wall standalone launchers.

Should be able to find up-to-date PPA's for those.

Good luck
