Why does it sound like they aren't even sure about what they're saying?
Kinda reminds me of the fake article for what parents should watch out for in their kids' online habits-- referencing Quake as an online meeting place for hackers to exchange ideas and plan attacks ;)

The problem with this "1337-sp33k" is that it's harder to write than normal English. It has some occasional funny moments, when, for instance, you use it as a joke. I play games, and obviously know many people who do; therefore, the occasionaly "1337" joke is funny. But for anyone who honestly writes like this for the majority of their typing: "You need help!"

Note,
The first series is of particular concern, as their use could be an
indicator that your teenager is involved in the theft of intellectual property,
particularly licensed software.
Leet words of concern or indicating possible illegal activity:
• "warez" or "w4r3z": Illegally copied software available for download.
• "h4x": Read as "hacks," or what a malicious computer hacker does.
• "pr0n": An anagram of "porn," possibly indicating the use of pornography.
• "sploitz" (short for exploits): Vulnerabilities in computer software used
by hackers.
$o, thats what its all about, isn't it!
It all starts with some innocent 1337$p33k, and ends with heavy fixes of pirated software, and the murder of millions...
OMfG, will someone please give Bill his lithium back...

"pwn": A typo-deliberate version of own, a slang term often used to express superiority over others that can be used maliciously, depending on the situation. This could also be spelled "0\/\/n3d" or "pwn3d," among other variations. Online video game bullies or "griefers" often use this term.
0\/\/n3d, who would waste their time writing this?
when i can just write owned, pfff. thats like writting apple like this /-\PP|_E, why?
"roxx0rs" Used in place of "rocks," typically to describe something impressive.
i have never hear or seen of this in my life, then again i have no friends. :(

d00d!
*L* OK, I just can't do it. Lemme start over:
Dude! you've never heard roxors (or some variaton)? Like "Those sausage balls you make every Christmas roxors my boxors."
It's usually NOT describing sausage balls, and more frequently software, games, or something technical. It just makes it sound even more stupid when you put it into common language, and not just techno-lingo.

they don't waste time writing it... they have little macros they use when playing the games or on IRC that, with just a few keystrokes, spew out whole pre prepared sentences of this guff...
and then again, it could just be the bots talking to themselves...
now txt is a whole different ballgame as it has evolved to reduce the number of characters required to send a message... this allows teens to fit as much as possible into the puny 200 or so character limit of sms messages.
that's why you see a lot of stuff like "c u l8r m8" or "r u up 4 it 2nite"

That should ONLY be used in text messages though. It's annoying as crap otherwise.

I split the rest of the posts that were here into a new topic. Normally tangents are fine, but man that one was absolutely nuts!
