Today I tried to do an upgrade from 11.10 to 12.04 and my computer froze during the upgrade. Completely frozen--no Ctrl-Alt-T shortcut to get a terminal, no mouse arrow, nothing.
I had to do a hard reboot and now the OS won't come up.
I get a message about multiple disks not being found, and then I get a root prompt and request for root password. When I enter my password, that doesn't work. I don't recall ever setting a root password, so I'm not sure what else it would be. My only two options from this screen are 1) Ctrl+D for reboot (which brings me back to this point) or 2) enter root password (which I don't know).
What do I do?
