I am looking at the Toshiba Satellite L855-S5385, found here:

After recently returning a Samsung machine, because of this issue, where people are actually bricking their laptops https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-cdimage/+bug/1040557. I believe that is a Samsung firmware issue after speaking with the designer of rEFInd.
So, I am ready to purchase, but am very gun shy. It seems like the EFI setup varies so much between hardware that it is very difficult to get a good answer.
I do want to set this up in EFI, and it has to be a dual boot so my wife can use W8. Any hardware specific thoughts would be much appreciated. (I searched for people bricking their Toshiba upon attempt of dual boot setup, so far, so good... :) )
