View Full Version : [ubuntu] Help finding a Video Chat Program

I have tried Skype and it dosent work using my webcam. It works good with gucview but not when I go to Skype. Do you know of any other Video Chats that it will work on. Im using Ubuntu 10.04. Thanks :p

I have not tried these, not really being a kde sort of person, but some swear by kopete others by ekiga... Skype is still the most universally used one though, might be worthwhile thrashing out your video problems.

Bit hard to say what "it" will work on as you didnt tell us what webcam.

I have used both kopete and pidgin fine, however I prefer not to talk to people at all these days ;-)

it will also depend who you are trying to talk to, different protocols are handled differently in each program with more or less features especially video chat.

The latest Skype version 4.1 works pretty good, it's really awesome.

I could suggest you a site www.icanhazchat.com where you can create a room and cam up with people in this room.

Like the person above me said, maybe try to get your webcam problems solved.

Skype is really worth it.

the webcam Im using is a Kodak S101.

I couldnt get this webcam to work on cheese so I went to gucview and it works but when I go through Skype the webcam dosent work.
