12.10 boot speedup?

I ask myself, is there a way to speed up the boot on Ubuntu. After pressing the power on the HP510 laptop it takes about 90 sec. to get started. Is there a kind of pre-boot system or instand-on software?

You got Windows and ubuntu or just ubuntu as your main operating system, because having a OS selection screen takes a lot of time. If it was your main OS you could get it to boot at least 5 seconds faster.
