Recently I purchased a VPS with a Ubuntu Server 11.10. I have been trying to get a gui on it, to make it easier to multitask, so I tried installing Gnome on it by using
sudo apt-get install gnome-core . I also used vnc4server as well. Everything went fine until I went to connect to the server using TightVNC Viewer. It connected fine but my cursor was a black "X" and the background was all grey. Nothing happened either. Can someone help???
