Partial Upgrade question

After making a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04 then running 'updates' I get a message saying "Not all items can be updated". Subsequent updates run without anything unusual reported

1) Is this something to worry about.
2) Can I check that my installation is fully uptodate?
