View Full Version : [ubuntu] ERROR: Unable to find a medium containing a live file system.

i recently downloaded ubuntu 12.10. but whenever i try to install it i get the following error.
'ERROR: Unable to find a medium containing a live file system.' so please help me.
i have not used ubuntu before. my system specs are...

i also checked the md5 hash and its matched i burned the DVD with lowest speed possible i.e 8x and i verified the files after burning . the burning software used is Nero 12.

Don't use NERO. Use UNETBOOTIN (http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/). Since you already downloaded the .iso you have to guide the Unetbootin to the downloaded .iso. Or you can use Win32DiskImager (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Win32DiskImager), the page says you can't write .iso to USB but it will. You have to manually enter ".iso" next to the file name in the dialog box before you begin writing.
