Hi Everybody.

I am basically being forced to use Unity with Cairo-dock (Ubuntu 12.10).

Is there a way to disable window dragging between workspaces?
Or, in the very least, to prevent the automatic switching of workspaces when I click on the application icon on the cairo-dock.

Another-words, I do not want my application to partially end up on two worskapces. If it foes, it sometimes fools unity into switching workspaces. How do I confine an application window to within boundaries of a workspace.

Please help!

Also, I noticed that Unity, when it sees your desktop being cluttered, it puts some applications (at least partially) on the neighboring workspaces. This is annoying. I do not want my applications to be put on other desktops (partially or fully) unless I tell it to do so.

How exactly are you being forced? You can just install another desktop environment if you don't like Unity.

Yep zero force, may want to try Gnome Classic.

sudo apt-get install gnome-session-fallback

And choose at login. or..

Xubuntu

sudo apt-get install xfce

Lubuntu

sudo apt-get install lxde
