View Full Version : [ubuntu] 12.10 64 bit Install problem (kernel related I think)

Hello,

I just got this netbook (Acer Aspire One 725) off craigslist and wanted to install Ubuntu 12.10 64 bit to try it out. I made a bootable USB, everything seemed to install on the USB fine, tried it twice. Restarted the computer and booted from USB, and I immediately get stuck. Here is a screen shot of what it shows.

Any suggestions? I have no clue where to start. I googled it but didn't get very far.

It looks like either there was a problem with the download or with putting it onto the USB drive, or possibly a problem with the USB drive. The boot files appear to be corrupted.

I have tried redownloading, and putting it on a different usb stick. Nothing works. Tried 12.04.1 and it seems to install. So could 12.10 just not be compatible with some of my hardware?

From the error message of your screen shot I would also think that the download and/or the creation of the usb boot media is the source of the problem. Here is how you can verify that the downloaded iso file has not been corrupted:
