12.04 launcher anomoly

I have a desktop and a laptop both running 12.04. On the laptop I click icons once to launch an app but on the desktop I need to double click. Can I change this? Presumably the launcher's configurable somehow but I can't see where.

If you have the Compiz Configuration Settings Manager (CCSM) installed the panel and launcher settings are available in the Unity plugin.

I have not seen a setting for what you are describing though.
