old laptop installation help

hi there guys i have a old toshiba portege 7200 im trying to get ubuntu or lubuntu onto it it has no cd drive and 1 usb slot ive tryed the usb slot but the bios wont let me usb boot

any ideas

Installing Ubuntu on a Pentium 3 with base 64mb RAM (your hardware specs according to Google) is not a beginner project, so if you are new to Linux, I recommend you recycle your current hardware and upgrade to a system that meets (or, preferably, exceeds) the following hardware requirements:

Please consider the suggestions of snowpine before try my suggest.

I think you need make a bios setting to boot from USB in many laptops of toshiba (i have one) when you boot appear a panel message with setup options - press F12 to boot menu, when you do F12 pressed, you open the BIOS settings boot choice usb please a run Ubuntu, i suggest to you try use Lubuntu or Xubuntu the both options are good for older pcs, i think.
