Everything was ok until I visited this site.
Clicking on videos shows a black window only, then CPU spikes up to 100%

Then I closed the page and it is back to normal.

Does that site do the same to you?

first shows what it did, second after i closed the page

No. it just says I am outside the U.S hence has no access. I then close it and that's it. Nothing unusual.

It works fine, loads OK, links work, videos work but with no Stop Ads button. No CPU or memory hit.

Who knows why?
All I see is black screen where video should be.
very mysterious, running 64 bit 12.04
all other videos work.

I do have an issue with Reuters video, all I get is endless cycle of adds.

Don't work in Firefox though. Probably require higher version of flash than 11.2

Could be? I rebooted and with just one tab open in firefox it does not load video. And it is using flash 11.2

Just tested with chrome again and with only a few tabs open, I got a visible error

Why do I have a feeling this is due to the problem with firefox sucking up so much memory.

Try creating a new profile and see if that fixes it.

If you can't see videos, don't use hosts file. It causes the adserver not to send the proper authentication to the player to make it play. While adblock just hides ads / etc. and still lets the server mitigate.

Weather channel's website does this too, so does NBC's website. It's an anti-hosts file movement by ad companies.
