View Full Version : [ubuntu] 10.04LTS kernel update

Whenever Update mgr updates the kernel, on reboot I get the following error for the new kernel.
Bad or missing file.
Using grub, select the previous kernel. Boots fine, even though I would have gotten the same error after that kernel update. I always have to use grub to select the last kernel. This tells me that the kernel files are not bad or missing, but grub is having an issue.
Anyone with any ideas?

via synaptic: purge then reinstall both latest borked kernel (headers+image) & grub, then reboot

Not really a viable solution as it happens on every kernel update using Update Mgr. To have to go through this every time would be a royal pain.

Not really a viable option as it happens every time the kernel is updated through Update Mgr. If the file is bad, then why does it work as soon as there is another update to the kernel?
