I'm a long time user of GAIM on Windows and Linux, and now I want to find a new IM client with a bit more eye candy.
Don't get me wrong, GAIM is great, but honestly, it's ugly. :P
When I was using OSX x86 for a short period of time, I ran across an IM client called Adium (http://adiumx.com/).
I loved this IM client but they don't support any other OS, sadly.
But, what I am looking for, Adium is the best example I know of.
So, if anyone can point me in a better direction than hopelessly searching Google, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I'm using Dapper, BTW.
Don't like KDE at all. :P

Have you tried a theme for your GAIM?

Yes, I have tried themes for GAIM before, but they aren't exactly what I am looking for.

I just tried installing GAIM 2, but for some reason when I was compiling from source, it didn't like my glib install.
I tried fixing the glib install, which I got the 2.8.0 version installed, but now it's complaining about the old install still being there.

I agree Adium is very good looking, I wish I could theme gaim into looking like that.
