question for you, I am probably getting the exact message wrong.

I woke up my computer from the screen saver and found a message waiting for me in a dialogue box. "Unable to grab Mouse cursor, a malicious process my be trying to take control of your computer"

of something to that effect. Before I unlocked my computer I had JUST installed an old HP LaserJet printer. I could not find anything definitive in my logs (that I recognize). What are the chances that the plugging in of the the USB printer triggered that message? or what and where in the log files should I be looking for a solution? I checked netstat -t and the only connection present was the ones to my AIM account.

Was it the same message in this thread?
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-security-4/could-not-grab-mouse-malicious-client-eavesdropping-838551/

Could not grab your mouse.
A malicious client may be eavesdropping on your session or you may have just clicked a menu or some application just decided to get focus.
Try again.

it was asked, not answered.

Right, I was asking if that was the message you got. It helps to understand the actual message that it complains with in order to find the cause.
