Building from scratch !!

Hi guys

I'm looking to try & create a minimal system using wind wm - http://windwm.sourceforge.net/

I plan on either using Ubuntu or Debian minimal installs, but don't no what steps I need to take before I can download & compile it !! I would appreciate it if someone could give me some help, tips or info...

...Can I just download & compile this or will I need to do some preparation first :?

That window manager seems old and no longer maintained.

Can't help with Debian minimal, just know Ubuntu minimal.

How could you tell that it is no longer maintained :?

I may just stick to openbox then, but I would certainly be open to suggeations

Last update was in 2011.

Nothing wrong with openbox, if you want a few more bells and whistles there is fluxbox.
