Error on upgrade to 12.10: Not enough free disk space

I've a Win7/Ubuntu 12.04 dual boot. Each OS is on its own physical drive, sda and sdb, respectively. The sdb6 partition (system?) has 6.9G capacity w/ 6.3 in use. All others have multiple GB available (total drive space available: 145GB). The upgrade to 12.10 aborts at that point. I'm far from Linux savvy and I'm not sure how to proceed.
