Hello everyone. I am still new to Unity, didn't like it much in the beginning but it's growing on me.

I was wondering what kind of tools there are for what I need to do. In Gnome Classic, I could just drag anything I wanted to a bar for quick access. Folders, files, programs and URLs, and so forth.

Putting stuff in the Dash is not what I want, there is simply too much I need to have available quickly and it's too clumsy to do it that way.

I know I could configure a dock to to this, but I don't really want to do that either. Something that stays invisible until I call it, like Guake terminal or Launchy in windows would be perfect. A desktop folder with everything in there is also not the ideal solution.

I know I should probably get to know Unity a little better, but in the meantime, any ideas?

Just to recap, something that doesn't take up screen space and can have links to multiple kinds of content.
