I downloaded Mint 14, I assumed to override Xubuntu, so I went to Xubuntu to see if there's something I have to save and... Why not override Mainbuntu? :P
I didn't remember XFCE is so beautiful, and I installed Docky. I think I shouldn't install Mint or I'll start hopping again and again and again!

First screenshot from me for the month, and it's not even of (K)(X)(L)Ubuntu :D

Fullscreen screenshot here:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/viperdvman/Screenshots/ScreenshotBodhi8.jpg

I'm posting a screen of my desktop's Bodhi Linux. And on it, I'm sticking with the anime theme... specifically Angel Beats!. The wallpaper is one I made myself, using a few screenshots straight from the anime (1080p version, of course) and a customized Angel Beats logo. It's basically the same wallpaper as on my Kubuntu, only with a customized version of the logo. As for the interface, I colored and placed both the icons and conky to where they look well-integrated with the wallpaper. It certainly took a lot of work to get this wallpaper to work :)

Computer: Desktop
Distro: Bodhi Linux 2.1.0
Desktop Environment: E17 "Enlightenment"
Enlightenment Theme: A-Angelic2
GTK Theme: Zukitwo-Primary-Red
Wallpaper: custom-made Angel Beats! "Piano Light Tenshi" wallpaper
Icons: ACYL (colored to match the Angel Beats! logo)
Launcher: "IBar" gadget
Apps in Launcher: PCManFM (file manager), Firefox, Google Chrome, Liferea (RSS reader), Pidgin, XChat (IRC client), Audacious, VLC, GIMP, LibreOffice Writer, gedit, GNOME Dictionary, Terminology, Synaptic Package Manager, GNOME Disk Utility, and System Monitor
Conky: taken from the Bodhi LUA Clock, omitting the lua components

Gotta love long exposure photos, and that minimal desktop. ^^

Here are my desktops. Just conveniently decided to play with Unity a while ago, and now that I've played with it in GnomeTweak, MyUnity, and CompizSettingsEditor, Unity is, gasp, just as customizable as I like. ^_^ I can change the window borders and the theme independent of each other using any of my favorite GTK2/3 themes, and I have transparent windows setup too, so I'm quite happy with it right now. The only thing I wish it would do is have wallpapers for each desktop!

http://th08.deviantart.net/fs71/200H/f/2012/299/7/6/767612c7bfda8b0258fbf799fe7a23f4-d5j2jdl.jpg (http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/johnluke728/XubuntuDesktop8.jpg)

Xubuntu 12.04 LTS

Window Manager : XFCE
Window Borders : Kikodi
Desktop Theme : OverglossedBlack on XFCE-Look.org
Icon Theme : Humanity Dark
Taskbar Borders : Vista Graphite Bars
Programs : XFCE extras, and Wallpapoz, for wallpapers on each virtual desktop.
Wallpaper : Solidarity, by `Rahll on deviantART - http://fav.me/d2vqkhs
(That's just my wallpaper for the Workspace, Vocaloid fan art spans my other virtual desktops. =P )
Additional Changes : Messed around with the panel settings until it was just like Ubuntu on Gnome 2 back in the day, with some extras, so I'm quite happy with that.

http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/johnluke728/th_UbuntuDesktop5.jpg (http://i1058.photobucket.com/albums/t410/johnluke728/UbuntuDesktop5.jpg)

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

Window Borders : Crunchy Orange
Desktop Theme : Ambiance
Icon Theme : Ubuntu Mono
Wallpaper : Obscure, by *JoeJesus on deviantart - http://fav.me/d360etw
Additional Changes : Launcher set to auto-hide at 0.3 milliseconds of mouse-pushing for reveal, (Something I always wished Windows would do!) and launcher icons set to 32 to display additional icons without clutter. Also used Gnome-Tweak to put the Trash bin there, and created a Nautilus file manager launcher disguised as a "My Computer" icon. Which is recognized by both my XFCE and Unity desktops as executable.

Also enabled Opacity with Compiz Config, so I can make windows transparent with the scroll wheel on my mouse easily. ^^ I really want a traditional workspace switcher on the top panel, but the Ctrl + Alt + Arrow Keys shortcut gets me around almost as fast.

Here's my Ubuntu 12.04.1 with a Ladybug landing in style!
The launcher was built by JoeD on August 2011.
And it is for Linux.

A friend of mine, who has a Mac said it looks like his Mac Lion. I told him that this was built before Lion was thought about, at least I thought so. So, the Mac guys might've taken it from that guy"s work, as it is freely available in the net.

I don't know, whether it is maintained or being blocked, so some other launcher could live on, so to be on the safe side, I have it downloaded.

Theme: Jellybean
Icons: Hi-lights-icons
WM: Gala from eOS
Panel: Gnome-Classic
Launcher: JoeD's Slingshot

I beg to differ. Lion was released in July of 2011 and I'm guessing Apple had to think about Lion before that. At least a year before if not more.

Hi, I cannot find the original person and the time, who had made this launcher. What i gave is the person, who had rebuilt it for Natty. I found a mention of this launcher somewhere in launchpad, which dated it around 2008. I cannot find this now, but if/when I find it, I'd let you know.

By the way, I really like Steve Jobs. I don't consider him dead either, for he was a Buddhist monk, while in his human body. He left a legacy, and that's great! But, he also said something very un-Buddhist, about steal ideas.:)

I like the Mac's looks, but it doesn't work with Autocad, a very big problem for me. It is a good machine for artists, etc though!

Good day!

PS: I found it Loukingr, It was first registered in 2007-07-08 in Launchpad.

If you like Ubuntu; you'll like Mint-

Debian Squeeze 6.0.5 is nice too and Fedora17 XFCE is cutting edge if that's what your looking for-

Today's wallpaper... A custom-braned wallpaper!
I have to say that I also had issues with the nvidia-current-updates and all the other drivers by default on all the Quantal family (I tested the experimentals on Ubuntu 12.10, and they seemed to be better, but I didn't on Xubuntu nor Kubuntu). They eat a lot of CPU percentage, and seem to be worse and more laggy. So I tried Nouveau, and it works perfectly. But I'm frightened because I read that Nouveau has some issues with full screen and other things, so before changing to Nouveau I tried the last nvidia-current from x-swat PPA, and it seems to be perfect!

Thanks for the kind words man :D

Thing is, I'm still chugging along on Ubuntu 11.04. Yep, it has EOL'd, but that doesn't bother me (yet) as I'm well protected security wise. I have all the apps I need and I haven't (again, yet) come across anything that I absolutely *must* have and which will force me to update - so I'm happy :KS

What I do is, I continue using the very first theme I did as a 'template'. It's mostly complete and it makes creating subsequent mods easy, as I only need to create fewer new graphics ;)

Rest is all standard fare. BTW, here's the 'complete' screenshot, I had only posted the first half up there : http://imageshack.us/a/img194/324/weekender.png

After spending the weekend really tearing this up and theming it out, I'm pretty impressed. The animations, clean look, and speed of this DE are pretty amazing, and I still prefer it over Unity, which is just a bit too busy for me. Really, the only downside to Gnome 3 for me has been the necessity to log back into XFCE to play some FS games (RedEclipse, SuperTuxKart), as GS will glitch after you close the game!? (I may elect to use the official GNOME 3 Team PPA if their version is newer and see if that fixes it.) Pretty awesome.

The idea started with the headaches I was having with Raring (with Quantal too.) When, guys started the critique, I told them about what i was thinking for some time. Can I get Unity without Unity? Then, I found missing files in /usr/bin and a muddled up set of files, so guys won't be seeing them, even if they tried. So much for Open Source!

If one wants a single application to do some special work, that application bloated with so much unwanted stuff. To try out, I let one such situation happen, and went to /usr/bin, /usr/lib etc to find out how much can I delete, without breaking the system. I deleted a lot, and still could get my application working. Why the bloat?! Anyway, the thread, where that discussion went on is http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2095113 in Ubuntu +1 (Raring Ringtail).

Unity without Unity, that is a part of the launcher--the whole launcher is not needed--and the Dash is still possible until April 2017. And, maybe with the help of a young person--they don't have cluttered minds--I might be able to dig Dash out of Unity3D without the launcher. I need only that one single icon on the top to get the Dash. Unity without Unity is very real thing!

This thread is about Screenshot. Please stay on topic
