Hi all,
Does anyone know if it is possible to lock the account and without interrupting the jobs that are in execution on such machine?

Hi Luisa Rebelo Pinto. Welcome to the forums ):P

There are couple of options.

You can run your commands to run on the background using 'nohup', or use 'screen'.

I prefer screen, here's a similar thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1988379&highlight=screen) that explains how to use it (post #3).

Hope it helps. Let us know how it goes.
Regards.
